Dambulla Cave Temple is a sacred site of veneration for Buddhists situated 148 km. To the north-east from the capital city, Colombo within the Cultural Triangle of Sri Lanka. It was declared a World Heritage site in 1991 considering its unsurpassing and centuries’ old religious, artistic and architectural contribution to the word culture. Being one of the most impressive and largest cave temples in South and Southeast Asia, it has gained reputation for the best preserved of its kind in the whole of Asia.
